About Councillor Holly Back

community leader, local fundraising, north vancouver

I am honoured to serve my second term as Councillor, and as your representative with the City of North Vancouver.

Born and raised in North Vancouver, I began my career on the North Shore as a hair stylist, then on to teaching at Carson Graham High School. I left that job in 1998 to pursue my master’s degree in education. My love of education led me to open Holly’s Salon and School, a successful, high-end salon and training facility that I operated for 20 years right here on Lonsdale. During that time, I was pleased to receive the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award in the ‘Best Employer’ and ‘Business Person of the Year’ categories and have twice been a finalist in Vancouver’s YWCA Women of Distinction awards. I was also honoured to be voted one of Canada’s most inspirational women by Chatelaine Magazine.

From 2008 to 2011, I also served on the North Vancouver School Board in the elected position of Trustee.

I have always been passionate about our community and I feel strongly that our community is made stronger when we all give back. I’m proud that my charitable work has raised thousands of dollars over the years and benefited many local charities.

My husband and I have three sons and they all live in North Vancouver with their families.

I look forward to serving the residents and businesses in the City of North Vancouver and bringing my business and common-sense approach to the council table and to the various committees on which I serve.
