On July 1st, Shipyards Live is set to host North Vancouver’s Biggest Canada Day Celebration. Canada’s 155th birthday will be marked with an all-day party with live music and family fun.
Nothing beats summer long weekends, and when Canada Day lands on a Friday, the stage is set for the ultimate Canadian summer long weekend. This year, Shipyards Live is ready to mark Canada’s 155th birthday with a full day of live music and fun for the entire family.
The live music gets started at noon and will continue until 10pm with two stages hosting live music all day long. On Canada Day, the Stage at Shipbuilders Square will be joined by a second stage at Cates Deck presented by the Rotary Club. Performers like The Shenanigans, Fully Loaded, and 5 Star Motel will crank out favourites old and new to keep toes tapping.
For many, nothing is more Canadian than the music of the Tragically Hip, and Roadside Attraction will be on hand to pay their tribute to the Hip as part of the celebrations. The smallest members of the family also get in on the musical fun as North Vancouver’s Mom Bop bring their kid pop to the party, which also includes face painting and a splash park.
Shipyards Live will pay tribute to another Canadian classic with a Retro Video Dance Party in the Pipe Shop from 5pm-10pm. They’ll be bringing back one of the best things about the 90s with a playlist packed with dancefloor classics from the past to help everybody move it, move it.
Food and drink are always essential for a long weekend and, along with food trucks to take care of any hunger pangs, the Patio Beer Garden presented by Stanley Park Brewing will be open from 12pm-10pm. It’s always a popular destination and happy hour pricing from noon-3pm is yet another great reason to find a table and enjoy the day.
