North Vancouver Community Arts Council presents Miyuki Shinkai

Event Details

event
City Atrium Gallery

Miyuki Shinkai’s mixed media installation piece called ‘Unison’ incorporates hand blown glass and driftwood. In this recent work she explores the concept of oneness, collaboration and community.
She draws inspiration from her past migrating to North America and her present residing in a beach
side community on the sunshine coast. Coming to North America from Japan, Miyuki found that expressing herself through art helped her overcome language and cultural barriers. Art has always been an ultimate communication method for her to interact and integrate with society.

Artist Talk: Tuesday, March 11, 2:30-3:00pm (general public welcome)
North Vancouver City Hall – Atrium, 141 West 14th Street, North Vancouver

Please join Miyuki as she discusses the meaning behind her work, the process of blowing glass, and her experience as an installation artist.
