Learn about the link between an early hotel and “Red Light” activities elsewhere. While researching North Vancouver’s Palace Hotel (built in 1906 on East 2nd Street), a local author and researcher revealed a series of discoveries that led to the sex trade in 1890s in Victoria and Yukon. An illustrated talk about the research steps that led to this surprising find. This presentation may not be suitable for children. Afterwards, you are invited to participate in a self-guided tour of our research facility. Learn how to access newspaper clippings, city directories and oral histories, and discover their potential for enriching your research.
