In the twenty five years since Niki Karimi shot to stardom with her major acting debut in The Bride, she has become one of the most important figures in the Iranian film industry. As a director, Karimi’s films are confident, stylish and compassionate stories about modern Iranian women. Night Shift is no exception. Featuring two remarkable central performances from Leila Zareh and Mohammadreza Forootan, this story of marital and financial troubles that is at once suspenseful and heartfelt, specific and universal. Night Shift was first screened outside of Iran in the 31st Warsaw Film Festival. Before that, it won the runner-up prize for best actress (Leila Zareh) and the jury’s special prize at the Fajr Film Festival.
