Gigaemi grew up in North Vancouver and belongs to the Squamish Nation Band. In his youth he spent a fair amount of time in Europe visiting galleries and museums, which later inspired him to attend the Vancouver School of Art.
Gigaemi’s approach to his art practice is playful and explorative. He often incorporates vibrant colours, loose strokes, shapes and layers that embody the traditions and myths of his culture.
