Peter Manning
Living in Vancouver since 1975, Peter Manning was born in London, England, where he graduated from Bournemouth College of Art in Graphic Design and worked as a designer and art director for ad agencies, magazine and private companies. Peter’s acrylic paintings explore life and activities associated with water. “Having come from an island and now living in a coastal city, I’m fascinated with the ever-changing aspects of reflection, light and movement [with water].”
STAGES of Creativity
Started by the participants of STAGES (Supported Transition Adult Group Education) at the North Shore Disability Resource Centre, STAGES of Creativity is a social enterprise where various handmade products – such as the artist birdhouses currently on display-are created and sold to the community. Participants at the STAGE Programme take part, and take pride, in each aspect of the STAGES of Creativity business, from production to sales and marketing. The artist participants venture into the community to photograph the natural beauty of the North Shore, then print the images and transfer the printed images onto wood using acrylic medium. Once the ink-to-wood process is complete, they assemble the birdhouses by hand. Find out more about STAGES at www.nsdrc.org
