REDPATCH is a historical drama that focuses on a young Métis soldier from the Nuu-chah-nulth nation of Vancouver Island who volunteers to fight for Canada in the First World War. Set in both Canada and the battlefields of France, REDPATCH follows the experiences of this young soldier as he endures the horrors of trench warfare.

This world premiere production will coincide with the 100 year anniversary of the historical Battle of Vimy Ridge, and is a moving depiction of the contribution that First Nations soldiers made towards the Great War.

The REDPATCH project has grown to include an interactive website about the making of the play, WW1 and First Nations culture and history. It serves as a resource for high school teachers, students and interested adults. An accompanying graphic novel further deepens the experience of attending the play.

This production is generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the British Columbia Arts Council, the Department of Canadian Heritage and the City of Vancouver, with additional presentation support from Presentation House Theatre.
