Angela Girard completed her university education at UBC in 1998 and moved to North Vancouver in 2002. Since moving to the City, Angela has been an active contributor to this community as an entrepreneur and small business owner, business professional, City Councillor, community volunteer, and a parent.
Having spent much of her career resolving disputes and representing the rights and concerns of homeowners, Angela builds consensus, advocates for others, and gets things done.
As a natural leader and collaborator, in her first term on Council and with the support of Council and staff, Angela brought forward and was successful in:
Certifying the City as a “living wage” employer
Expanding childcare on City-owned lands, and through new development
Increasing developer supports to tenants being displaced through new development
Exploring “rent-to-own” housing options for the ‘missing middle’
Reinstating funding to upgrade school playgrounds, with 3 City school playgrounds completed
Exploring morning and after school care programming through local agency & SD44 collaboration
Establishing a task force to develop an annual multicultural festival to celebrate the City’s cultural diversity and reduce racism.
Angela builds relationships everywhere she goes, responding to constituents’ concerns, liaising with City staff and non-profit agencies, and participating on various City committees. Angela is currently serving as the Council representative on:
City’s Social Planning Advisory Committee
City’s Advisory Design Panel
North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission
CNV4Me Child and Youth Task Force
Angela is also the City’s alternate on the Board of Metro Vancouver.
Angela is committed to this community and the people she serves.
