The Capilano area of North Vancouver is located just west of Lonsdale Avenue and extends up to Capilano Road, which is adjacent to the Lions Gate Bridge. Capilano Road extends as far north as Grouse Mountain and is a busy street for tour buses, skiers, hikers and mountain bikers.
Capilano Mall is home to major merchants, like WalMart, Sears, Telus and other familiar retail stores. Other businesses in this area lie along the Marine Drive corridor, with many varied professional and personal choices available to residents and visitors.
A wide variety of shops and services is literally in every direction along Marine Drive, including car repair locations, many restaurant choices, banks and credit unions, home improvement centres and health related facilities.
Lately, there has been a boom in residential development here with many developers launching new condo projects and new homes.
Almost everything is “walkable” through the Marine Drive corridor of North Vancouver. When you do need a car, the Northshore Auto Mall is located in Harbourside, just off the ocean and moments from the heart of Capilano. Mosquito Creek Marina is also close by and offers boat moorage and related services.
One of BC’s largest First Nations bands also has a prominent community within the Capilano area, just east of the Lion’s Gate Bridge.
When every day shopping is on the list, Capilano is a natural, convenient choice for both locals and those exploring Vancouver’s North Shore.
