Looking back at Deep Cove’s “main drag” (formerly Second Street, now Gallant Avenue) and the waterfront, we explore the changing structures, businesses and landscape. The area continues to evolve, with eateries and posh boutiques now dotting the popular tourist destination.
In the Deep Cove Cultural Centre’s lobby and auxiliary room, Deep Cove Heritage Society presents “Deep Cove Memories: Growing up in the Cove from the Mid 1940s to the Mid 1960s” by long-time Cove resident Wendy Bullen Stephenson. Stephenson has included photographs from the Deep Cove Heritage Society’s collection in her mixed media historical work. The pieces, which explore her childhood in Deep Cove, integrate hand-coloured photographs, painting, drawing, collage, calligraphy, assemblage, natural materials and handmade paper, as well as memorabilia and repurposed archival objects.
