Join the library for a free opening reception for Gigemi’s new exhibition at the District Library Gallery, hosted by the Friends of the Library. Leef walks around the city with an inexpensive camera looking for compositions that intrigue him and then he paints them. He is less concerned about the subject matter. Every day, Leef gets absorbed in the process and in turn it becomes a therapeutic catharsis. The result is a unique feeling of peace that only this process seems to provide. Incorporating found materials, loose and often thick textured strokes, he revels in the spectacle of the decorative, the glorification of a stroke of light that makes the mundane magnificent.
