Bass opera singer Joel Frederiksen accompanies himself on the lute and archlute with a repertoire of 17th century music from the early Baroque period to the Renaissance.
Orpheus, I am is a solo program featuring songs sung in English, French and Italian by Dowland, Willaert, Marini, Johnson, Attaignant and Caccini. Frederiksen is based in Munich, Germany, an American with Danish ancestry. He is a stunning artist – both in his mastery of the lute, and his wide range of vocal registers and styles. He is the Artistic Director of the Ensemble Phoenix Munich quartet.
The group released Requiem for a Pink Moon, a tribute to the music of Nick Drake in 2012.
