Judith A. Frigon

One evening while swimming, Judith noticed a beautiful water lily. She wanted a closer look and swam towards it, but when she went to reach out for it she became tangled in the slimy stems below. Feeling panicked and scared she prayed for escape. Something told her to stop struggling, to relax, and float peacefully. She listened and found her release.

This incident prompted her to research water lilies and their symbolism. These beautiful flowers that grow out of the mud are often referred to as a symbol of peace, rebirth, enlightenment and good fortune. Informed and inspired, Judith created a series of acrylic paintings honouring the Nymphaea.

Judith is a graduate of the Alberta College of Art. She has worked as a layout artist, fashion illustrator, and as a commercial artist in advertising. Currently, she teaches art at St.Thomas Aquinas High School.
