Quebec City established Canada’s very first St. John training branch in 1883, quickly followed by Kingston, Ontario. Over the next decade, the organization expanded rapidly from coast to coast, growing into a national movement with 12 active branches by 1892. Alongside this expansion in first aid education, St. John established a deeply rooted tradition of community volunteerism. Before long, its dedicated volunteers became a reassuring and familiar presence during emergencies across the country. Today, that legacy thrives. In more than 300 communities across Canada, over 10,000 St. John Ambulance volunteers contribute more than one million hours of service each year.…
