Terry is the Member of Parliament for Burnaby-North Seymour, having been elected in the 2015 and 2019 General Elections. Before being elected to Parliament, Terry was a small business owner, an educator, a city councillor and a community advocate. In Ottawa, he has served in a variety of roles. Currently, he is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard. He has previously served as both Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Science and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport.
From a young age, Terry has been passionate about making a difference in his community and helping everyone reach their full potential. At the age of 18, Terry was elected to Nanaimo’s City Council, and worked hard to provide young people with a voice at the decision-making table. Recognizing the importance of education, Terry enrolled at Simon Fraser University to pursue a double major in Business and Economics. After SFU, he completed his MBA at Oxford University. With his twin brother, Doug, Terry founded Twinbro Local Leaders, a non-profit focused on helping students access scholarships to attend post secondary. Terry and Doug then founded tech-company, HireTheWorld, before Terry decided to run to represent Burnaby North-Seymour in Parliament.
Terry is focused on ensuring that our government’s work in Ottawa is easily accessible for members of our community. On our website, in the “Reports” section, there are reports detailing our government’s work on Climate Change, the Economy, Affordability, Housing, Seniors, Fifty-Five of our Most Impactful Investments, as well as an 18 page Presentation to the Trans Mountain Ministerial Review Panel addressing our community’s concerns about the project.
Terry is determined to make his work improve the lives for everyone in his Burnaby and North Vancouver ridings.
