The North Shore Mayors’ Golf Tournament is now in its 11th year. The tournament is endorsed by our three North Shore Mayors: Mayor Richard Walton, District of North Vancouver; Mayor Michael Smith, West Vancouver; and Mayor Darrell Mussatto, City of North Vancouver.
The Tournament is managed by the North Shore Community Foundation and a group of dedicated volunteers. The strong support of our sponsors has made the event a great success. Our accomplishments are made possible through the collaboration of our Mayors, the business community, and the North Shore Community Foundation. In ten years, this tournament has raised a over $1,200,000, with $522,500 going directly to community projects; and $587,500 deposited in the Mayors’ Community Trust Funds of the community foundation. These are permanent trust funds and income generated supports high priority social services projects on the North Shore over the long term.
The North Shore Community Foundation is pleased to announce Harvest Project as the designated charity for the 11th annual North Shore Mayors’ Golf Tournament.
Harvest Project serves the North Shore, extending a hand up to those in need, helping to restore health and stability benefits for the whole community. Their vision is to enlarge their work as a sustainable and compassionate presence for North Shore residents, by North Shore residents. For more than 23 years, Harvest Project has been reaching those who are experiencing extreme challenges with family breakdowns, illness, job loss and poverty. As a social enterprise, their programs provide individual client-coaching and active listening, provision of food, clothing support, assistance for workforce re-entry and food recovery and redistribution.
“Harvest Project brings much needed assets to residents of the North Shore and we are pleased to be able to provide our support to this essential facility.” says Michael Boehm, President of the North Shore Community Foundation. “Their mandate “extending a hand up, not a hand out” is very much in sync with the mission and vision of our Community Foundation and something we, as a Board, fully endorse.”
