Event Details

event
Lynn Valley Main Library

Opening Reception: Saturday, June 6, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

With an emphasis on the surreal versus the real; solid versus mysterious, Yue Baoyu’s paintings encapsulate many themes. Her paintings are made up of mostly realist figurative elements, creating portraits with intriguing multi-element backgrounds. The fragmented perspective aims to invite multiple interpretations.

Yue Baoyu is a realist and representational painter. She combines modern and postmodern concepts to create images inspired by both the Eastern and Western art languages. Elements of Renaissance and Chinese ancient scrolls, abstract, surrealist and symbolic elements, digital influence and micro-macro transformations are seen in her work.

Yue Baoyu graduated from the Fine Art programme at Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in 2014.
