The Shipyards

The Lower Lonsdale Business Association in partnership with the City of North Vancouver invites you to celebrate their annual Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at The Shipyards located at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue from 4:30pm – 7:30pm.

Stilt walkers, a gingerbread cookie character, reindeers and the inviting sounds of Christmas carolers will welcome you as you arrive on-site. Stage entertainment gets underway at 4:30pm with performances from Mike Battie who will be sure to thrill you with his fire juggling show; a special screening of the Shipyards while the Burrard Dry Dock was in operations during the war, the Dan Brubeck Quartet singing traditional songs and the exciting Vancouver Community Outreach Soul Gospel Choir.

Santa is expected to drop by for a visit just after 5:00pm and the City of North Vancouver’s Mayor Mussatto will light the giant tree at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue at approx. 5:25pm. Children are welcome to visit Santa at his workshop on site from 5:00pm – 7:30pm.

Shipbuilders’ Square will be sparkling with Christmas lights and filled with children’s activities that include the always popular bug lantern building workshop lead by the North Vancouver Museum & Archives; the North Shore Neighbourhood House gingerbread man decorating station, which for a small donation you can take home your own decorated gingerbread man and festive crafts hosted by the North Vancouver Community Arts Council.

To keep you warm during the festivities there will be free hot chocolate, coffee & cookies.
