An afternoon of pure delight
Laudate Singers and Baroque Chamber Orchestra herald the Christmas season
with a grand afternoon of sumptuous French Baroque music.
Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit pour Noël is a Midnight Mass
for Christmas with a delightful use of French Christmas carols. The regal
Te Deum (H.146) is brilliant! The Orchestra will also play a collection of
fanfares by Jean-Joseph Mouret.
Both Mouret and Charpentier were popular in 17th century France and then
almost forgotten until being rediscovered in the 20th century. Their music
is a gift to us of beauty and exhilaration.
