I have always been involved in the community, either as a volunteer or in an elected role, an ethos I learned from my dad Bob, who served two terms on City Council. I was elected three times to the School Board, serving from 1993 to 2001. I was a District appointee to the North Van Recreation Commission from 2001 to 2007 and was elected to the first of two terms on North Van City Council in 2008. I have also been a volunteer for North Shore Neighbourhood’s volunteer tax filing service for over ten years, and have volunteered at St Andrew’s United Church for the last five years. Whether it’s picking up bread for the community kitchen and food distribution program or subbing in as a janitor when they need one, I am there to help.

I’ve talked to many residents who are very concerned with the City’s fiscal situation and the impact it will have on affordability. Whether they are property tax payers or renters, they know that we are all headed for higher utility and property tax bills. They are also concerned with the City’s unwillingness to listen to what residents really want. I want to help find solutions for both. I have experience with how the City operates, given my two terms on Council. I also have a strong background in finance. I can offer citizens a real voice and a viable alternative to the incumbents.
