Opening Reception: Thursday, May 26, 7-9pm

The North Vancouver Community Arts Council and the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver proudly present Harana, a visual serenade to the rich culture and heritage of the Philippines.

“Harana” is the romantic Filipino courtship tradition of the serenade. The suitor, usually accompanied by his close friends, goes to the house of the woman he is courting and plays music and sings love songs to her.

Join us for this colourful and spirited exhibition showcasing the distinctive visual art of a society with diverse cultural influences and traditions.

Harana features the work of Manuel Baldemor and recognized Filipino-Canadian artists Ed Araquel, Danvic Briones, Tessie Dichupa, Jo Galang, Lenore RS Lim, Chito Maravilla, Donna Osea Menor, Bert Monterona, and JA Tan.
