Local real estate agent, Ina Ervin, knows what it is like to work hard to achieve goals and dreams. At the age three, she started white water kayaking and pursued her goals to making the Canadian White water Kayaking Team where she represented Canada for nine years.
Now Ervin wants to give back to the community she lives and works in, by encouraging other kids to pursue their athletic dreams. “I know first-hand how hard these young athletes train to follow their passion. They sacrifice a lot along the way, but it is worth it. They can learn so much from the hard work and dedication it takes”, Ervin says. “These are life lessons that extend far beyond the sport”.
Ervin is offering three youth athletic sponsorships, one valued at $750 and two at $250, saying “I was fortunate to have help along the way and now I want to do the same for other young aspiring athletes”. The sponsorship money can be used for training, competition fees, travel expense or gear. All that is required is that applicants submit a story about themselves and their sport in one page or less. Applicants must be 18 years or younger and live in North Vancouver. Ervin hopes to continue to grow this program each year, to help more kids pursue their athletic dreams.
