Jhamtse Canada will be hosting a movie night with live performances and refreshments in support of Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community. Jhamtse Canada is a registered charity which supports the building and maintenance of shelter in developing countries as well as renewable energy and agriculture projects, which provide a sustainable source of electrical energy and locally grown food to these communities.
The film you will see is the multiple award-winning 40-minute documentary Tashi and the Monk. Tashi has won the prestigious International Documentary Association’s “Best Short Film of 2014” award along with the Pare Lorentz Award for documenting social issues. Tashi also won six other film festival awards including both the Banff Mountain Film Festival and the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival’s “Best Mountain Culture” awards. The movie shows life in the Himalayan foothills and the uplifting social experiment that a former Buddhist monk is carrying out to help neglected and troubled children at the Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community.
Tickets are $25/person and $10/children under 12. Please retain your PayPal receipt as proof of purchase. Your name and number of tickets purchased will be added to our guest list.
