The Bad Plus have been playing together for over a decade and their genre bending music has avoided easy categorization from the beginning. They’ve won over a legion of fans worldwide with their creativity, unique sound and flair for live performance, and have simultaneously challenged the notions of traditional jazz. Based in New York City, this intensely collaborative trio has constantly searched for rules to break and boundaries to cross.
The result is a musical river that flows powerfully at the intersection of jazz, indie rock and contemporary classical music, inspiring Rolling Stone to call them “about as badass as highbrow gets.” Their vast repertoire is primarily composed of original music, but they are also renowned for their deconstructions of pop, rock, country, and classical pieces such as Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring.” Don’t miss this tightly knit trio of dynamic performers who are paving the way for the next generation. Featuring Ethan Iverson on piano, Reid Anderson on bass and Dave King on drums.
