ART+PLACE will celebrate Canada’s 150th through visual art and dance, to inspire an awareness of the place where we live and foster a sense of belonging.
On July 22 in Waterfront Park, the NVCAC will present ‘Entrelacs’, a dance performance incorporating public art, presented by Alt-Shift, a creative collaboration by two contemporary dancers from Quebec. The presentation will include one violinist and three dancers who use elastic lines to interlace the natural architecture of the site and the public art piece ‘Cathedral’ by Douglas Senft.
Alt-Shift will also present family-oriented workshops to explore the body movement involved in the Entrelacs performance. Free, hands-on art activities by artists involved in place/land-based art practices will add another dimension to the event and further explore the theme of understanding the place where we live.
